Navigation International Jazzfestival Bern

UPDATE: April 15, 2021

Thank you for your patience regarding news concerning news about this year’s International Jazzfestival Bern.

This year’s edition was originally planned to take place this spring between March 22 and May 29.

Yesterday’s governmental decree concerning new measures COVID-19 from April 19 states that indoor concerts can only take place with a maximum occupancy of one third of room capacity and 50 persons maximum. Because of the high costs involved, this effectively renders the realization of the festival concerts impossible at that time.

This had led us to the decision to change the dates of this year’s festival to fall 2021.

The new dates of the 46th International Jazzfestival Bern are August 31st through November 6, 2021.

Negociation with musicians as well as general planning are in progress and the final program will be published here as soon as possible. Ticket sales are estimated to begin at the end of May.

Please remain patient and flexible on behalf of the replacement dates of your tickets if you already bought some. If you acquired your tickets via directly, you will be contacted by SeeTickets via email with the new dates of your tickets, as soon as these dates are finalised.

We still think it to be of the upmost importance – especially during these strange times – to resume the concerts of the IJFB as well as our regular season at Marians (albeit with possibly changes of dates and line-ups) as soon as possible.

Once again, we thank you for your patience and continuous suppport in these globally trying and difficult times for live music.

Stay healthy, enjoy a drink or meal on the terrace of your favourite restaurant in those upcoming warm days and join us in looking forward to the coming season of live jazz and blues music!

Safety measures COVID-19 during the International Jazzfestival Bern

Due to the current situation and the circumstance that social distancing can not be guaranteed at all times have led us to introduce special safety measures in Marians Jazzroom for the duration of the 45th International Jazzfestival Bern:

- Marians Jazzroom will only be accessible through the main hotel entrance (with the exception of disabled persons) and not through the restaurant entrance.

- The entrance is signposted from all areas. There will also be visible distance markers at the  club entrance and in the foyer.

- The use of face masks is mandatory for all guests and staff alike for the duration of the entire concerts in Marians Jazzroom.

- Because of the face mask obligation, there will be no food and drinks served before, during and after the concerts. Guests will have the possibility to buy water bottles for CHF 5.—which they are allowed to take with them into the Jazzroom.

- Before, after and between the concerts, Guests will have the possibility to eat and drink at various on-site locations: Josephine Brasserie (6.00 p.m. – 12.30 a.m.), Jazztent (6.00 – 11.00 p.m.), Parc Café (until 8.00 p.m.).

- The air condition in Marians works with fresh air and the used air is withdrawn. There is no used air circulated in the club.

- Contact tracing will be done with forms, to be filled in by one guest per table / party. The form will request name, address, phone number and email address. For each concert, these forms will be confidentially sealed in an envelope and kept for 14 days. After this time, the forms will be destroyed. None of this  data will be collected, stored, used or passed on.

We are confident that with these measures, we can offer a safe concert evening to all our guests and staff alike. We look forward to start the new concert season with you all.
